Willaim Erskine's flight to the new world is reported to be begin from Bristol, England in ~1720.
Circumstances for which he left are unclear. Religious and/or political, he left
the British Isles in the Port of Bristol for the colonies. The ship may have entered the port of
Philedelphia and soon William Erskine Marrs made his way to the York County area of
Pennsylvania.
William married(?) and had a son, Samual Marrs, born in 1740 in York County,
Pennsylvania. Also, there is reference to some "scottish" moving into the southeast portion
of York County in the York County History. This time period was under British rule and their is
evidence to suggest alias were taken on to protect the true identities of these scottish of noble
decent. However, no direct connection has been uncovered.
There is a township called Chanceford in southeast York county.
